Honestly, unless you're really set on going the “NS10 route” for the sake of learning their famed translation quirks, I’d say the CLA10As are probably not the best fit for a beginner. They’re brutal-not much low end, harsh highs, and they’ll definitely expose flaws, which can be more discouraging than helpful when you’re starting out. I know the allure, but you’ll probably learn more (and have more fun!) on something a bit friendlier and less fatiguing to listen through all day. For day-to-day listening, forget it-these weren’t designed to flatter music.
Maybe aim for something like the Yamaha HS5s/HS7s, KRK Rokits, or JBL 305s. They’re easier to live with, still honest enough for mixing, and won't have you second-guessing every EQ move out of sheer discomfort. If you do get the bug for “NS10 magic” later, you can always pick up a pair then, once you’ve got your bearings.
