I recently decided to watch a documentary on Netflix about a band that has always been surrounded by quite a bit of controversy. Prior to watching, I realized I actually knew very little about them. As the documentary unfolded, I kept recognizing many of their songs and found myself surprised at each revelation, thinking to myself, "Oh, I didn't know they did THAT song!" time and again.
By the end of the documentary, my perspective had shifted considerably. While I wouldn’t go as far as saying I love them now, my appreciation for their music has definitely grown and any prior dislike has faded away. Beyond their music, they also came across as genuinely nice guys.
Another interesting tidbit I picked up was that they are from Canada. This adds them to my mental list of notable Canadian musicains like Gordon Lightfoot, Joni Mitchell, Neil Young, Rush, and Barenaked Ladies—a pretty impressive company!
