I just heard about the passing of John Mayall, a true legend in the blues genre. It's been a while since I've actively listened to his music—probably about a decade—but there was a time when he was my absolute favorite artist. In terms of album counts, I own more albums by him than any other artist or band, which isn't surprising given his prolific output; sometimes he released two albums in a single year!
John Mayall was not only a fantastic musician himself but also had an incredible knack for surrounding himself with some of the best guitarists out there. He worked with icons like Eric Clapton, Peter Green, Mick Taylor, and many others like Larry Taylor, Walter Trout, and Ainsley Dunbar—to name just a few off the top of my head. His impact on music is as profuond as that of the guitarists he hired; it's clear why the guitar world is paying such heartfelt tributes to him.
