Recently, I found myself in an interesting situation regarding a potentail guitar trade. A close friend of mine, who usually plays Les Pauls and various Gretsch hollow and semi-hollow body guitars, surprised me the other day. Despite his usual preferences, he's never really ventured beyond these models - except maybe for a Stratocaster knockoff back in the '80s, though I've never actually seen him play one.
So imagine my surprise when he walked into my place with a guitar case, eager to make a trade because he suddenly wanted a Stratocaster. When I opened the case he handed me, I found it contained a G2627T model in Shoreline Gold - a tri-pickup semi-hollow body which is quite uncharacteristic for him. He had his eyes on a 1996 Korean Squier SSH Strat that caught his fancy.
This unexpected offer has left me pondering whether to go through with the trade or not. The G2627T is definitely alluring with its unique features and striking color, but it's quite different from what I usually play as well. What do you think? Should I embrace this unexpected opportunity or stick with the familiar and pass on this trade?
