I've been eyeing a brand new 2024 SE Custom 24 quilt top but I'm unsure about taking the leap because the Pattern Thin/Wide Thin neck carve of a PRS is something I haven't experienced before. Throughout my years of playing, I’ve handled a variety of guitars from brands like Fender, Squier, Gibson, and Epiphone. Generally, aspects like radius and neck shapes didn’t stick out much to me; I adapted to whatever each guitar offered which added to the unique character of different models like the Stratocaster versus the ES-335 or the Explorer. This variation in feel has subtly infleunced my playing style as well.
However, one thing that really left an impression on me was the thinness of an old Ibanez MIJ I used to play. Its neck was particularly comfortable for my hands, which has made me quite curious about how PRS's neck carves compare, especially since they seem to be a significant feature.
